Join us Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 8 AM - 4 PM for a day of restorative dialogue focused on topics central to the education and critical mentorship of Youth of Color.  This year’s summit will amplify and highlight the voices, experiences, and leadership of Black Girls, as they cultivate Black Joy, highlight anti-racist pedagogies, and guide us to re(imagine) schools as spaces where they and their BIPOC peers thrive!

I retired from a 20 plus year career as an environmental toxicologist prior to becoming an educator. Prior to retiring, I was the manager of the project management team at the laboratory acting as contractual and technical liason between clients, regulatory agencies and the laboratory.  I started my teaching career in 2006 at a Middle School in Elk Grove.  I student taught at a high school in the subjects of chemistry, earth science, and chemistry in the communitiy.  At the middle school, I taught 7th grade life science, physical science, 8th grade honors science, pre-engineering (PLTW).  I was also the science department chair, leadership team and site support.  I was nominated for middle school teacher of the year twice.  I have worked with SMUD (Sacramento Municipal Utilities District) to write curriculum for a solar sunflower program.  Harriet Eddy Middle School was the second school to have a sunflower installed on its campus.  This allows students to manipulate the solar panels to collect solar energy to use on campus.
I am a mother of three beautiful adults. I sat on the board of the Franklin Junior Wildcat Cheer and Football Team as well as a girlscout leader and art docent for my daughter's elementary school.
I like to watercolor, sew, kayak and hike in my spare time.  I create custom and couture clothing for my daughters, grandchildren and family.
